Additional toolkits for other interested staff may be requested from the Child Nutrition Unit.

The New Meal Deal – Marketing Plan Step-by-Step • A manual that leads Child Nutrition personnel through ten steps to design and implement a marketing plan • Includes instructions and worksheets • Recommend that you take time to complete the step-by-step guide and create a marketing plan for each of your schools • Consider working together with other schools in your area or complete with your staff during an in-service

The New Meal Deal – Food service Toolkit • Two packets that describe the new USDA Breakfast and Lunch Meal Patterns • The slides in each packet were originally developed by the Arkansas Department of Education Child Nutrition Unit for the new Lunch Meal Pattern Workshop in April 2012 and the new Breakfast Meal Pattern Workshop in April 2013

The New Meal Deal – History and Let’s Move • This section includes a variety of resources: • for understanding the need for the new USDA Meal Pattern • the direction of Child Nutrition Programs in America • the issues related to childhood obesity • and the goals of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Campaign

The New meal Deal – Team Nutrition • Objectives: • Identify the tools needed for enrolling as a Team Nutrition School • Identify the common values of Team Nutrition Schools • Identify marketing resources available to Team Nutrition Schools • Describe methods for using Team Nutrition and other designations and awards as a means for marketing

The new meal deal – Whole Grain of the Month • This workbook provides an explanation of • new and exciting whole grains • tips for cooking • recipes • and more that can be developed into bulletin boards, newsletters, parent packets, health fair displays, classroom lessons…the possibilities are endless.

  9. The New Meal Deal – USDA Toolkit for Educators and Students • Designed to provide nutrition education materials related to school nutrition and general consumer nutrition that educators (including Child Nutrition personnel) may use in marketing the new Meal Pattern to students and teachers

  10. The new meal deal – USDA Toolkit for Parents • Designed to provide nutrition education materials related to school nutrition and general consumer nutrition that may help parents better understand the goals of the new Meal Pattern and methods for combating childhood obesity in America
