  9. Historical Sites Chidorigafuchi • “Amazing tunnels of seamless cherry blossoms • Chidorigafuchi is part of the moat surrounding the former Edo Castle. The Someiyoshino and Yamazakura cherry blossoms of Chidorigafuchi, although not exactly rich in number, are one of the most popular hanami (blossom viewing) trees. When the trees reach full blossoming they are beautifully lit at night allowing visitors to see another spectacular aspect of the sakura.

Historical Sites Imperial Palace, Chiyoda • Most not open to the public except for the East Gardens • Tokyo Imperial Palace, known as Kokyo which literally means the Imperial Residence, is the primary residence of the Emperor of Japan (the Japanese head of state). The actual Tokyo Imperial Palace building is located within the grounds of what was Edo Castle. Today some of Edo Castle's moats, defensive walls, gate houses and turrets still remain.
