  6. OTT Activities 2004-2005 • March 10, 2005 • The Eta Chapter of Omicron Tau Theta inducted 17 new members in their spring ceremony. This group represents the third-largest set of new initiates into OTT at one time in the history of the chapter, and the largest since November of 1981. The initiation ceremony was held at the Center on Education and Training for Employment (CETE) at 1900 Kenny Rd. in the main auditorium.

OTT Activities 2006-2007 Omicron Tau Theta sponsored an international study presentation at CETE, featuring Dr. Moriki Terada of Nagoya University (Japan), Dr. Matthias Pilz of University of Freiburg (Germany), Dr. Seung IL Na of Seoul National University (South Korea) and Chris Zirkle, The Ohio State University. Papers were presented on various topics related to education and training for the workplace. Dr. Seung IL Na chats with Dr. McCaslin of The Ohio State University and Dr. Ike Kershaw of the Ohio Department of Education Professor Moriki Terada presents his research

  13. OTT Activities 2006-2007 • May 24, 2007 • The Eta Chapter inducted 11 new members in the spring ceremony President Margaret Owens begins the initiation ceremony Eddie Fletcher signs the membership book

OTT Activities 2008-2009 On November 17, 2008 the Eta Chapter hosted a panel discussion entitled “An Introduction to Career and Technical Education”, designed to introduce the topic to students across all the teacher licensure programs at Ohio State. Eight panel members, all graduates of various Ohio State CTE programs, discussed specific questions about their respective CTE programs

OTT Activities 2008-2009 • New Member Initiation • On June 11, 2009, six individuals were inducted into the Eta Chapter of Omicron Tau Theta. • Allison Arra, M.A. graduate in Workforce Dev. & Education • Daniel Foster, Ph.D. graduate in Human and Community Resource Development • Matt Green, M.A. graduate in Workforce Dev. & Education • Brad Henry, M.A. graduate in Workforce Dev. & Education • Michelle Maskulinski, M.A. graduate in Workforce Dev. & Ed • Charles Saunders, Ph.D. student in Workforce Dev. & Ed

OTT Activities 2009-2010 On November 23, 2009 the Eta Chapter of Omicron Tau Theta hosted a panel discussion entitled “An Introduction to Career and Technical Education”, designed to introduce the topic to students across all the teacher licensure programs at Ohio State. Nine panel members, all graduates of various Ohio State CTE programs, discussed specific questions about their respective CTE programs. Twenty-seven people attended the discussion in the PAES Building, including a group of visiting scholars from Indonesia.

  18. OTT Activities 2009-2010 • OTT Member Wins Dissertation Award • Kattlyn Wolf, assistant professor in agricultural and extension education at the University of Idaho, has been awarded the Omicron Tau Theta Research Award for her dissertation titled “Agricultural Education Teacher Self-Efficacy: A Descriptive Study of Beginning Agricultural Education Teachers in Ohio”. The award was presented at the Association for Career and Technical Education Research (ACTER) conference in Nashville, TN on November 18, 2009. The OTT Research award is presented to the OTT member who was found to have written the best doctoral dissertation from those studies nominated. She was nominated by Dr. Larry Miller, professor in the Department of Human and Community Resource Development at Ohio State University. Wolf earned her doctorate in agricultural education at Ohio State in August 2008 and was inducted into the Eta Chapter in 2007.

  20. OTT Activities 2010-2011 • On October 11, 2010 the OTT scholarship was awarded to Kristina Howell and Lindsey Martin, graduate students in Workforce Development and Education.

OTT Activities 2010-2011 • Panel Discussion • On November 8, 2010 the Eta Chapter of Omicron Tau Theta hosted a panel discussion entitled “An Introduction to Career and Technical Education”, designed to introduce the topic to students across all the teacher licensure programs at Ohio State. Five panel members, all graduates of various Ohio State CTE programs, discussed specific questions about their respective CTE programs including: • What are the goals and objectives of CTE courses and programs? • How does CTE fit in within the broader K-12 system? • How do CTE courses and programs connect with traditional academic disciplines? • The panel also entertained questions from the audience. Twenty people attended the discussion in the PAES Building, including a group of visiting scholars from Indonesia.

OTT Activities 2011-2012 • Panel Discussion • On Tuesday, November 14, 2011, the Eta Chapter of Omicron Tau Theta hosted a panel discussion entitled “An Introduction to Career and Technical Education”, designed to introduce the topic to students across all the teacher licensure programs at Ohio State. Eight panel members, all graduates of various Ohio State CTE programs, discussed specific questions about their respective CTE programs including: • What are the goals and objectives of CTE courses and programs? • How does CTE fit in within the broader K-12 system? • How do CTE courses and programs connect with traditional academic disciplines? • The panel also entertained questions from the audience. Twenty people attended, including a group of Indonesian scholars who were visiting OSU.

OTT Activities 2011-2012 • The Teaching Profession: Seminar • On Tuesday, November 22, the Eta Chapter of Omicron Tau Theta hosted a seminar entitled “Finding and Keeping Your First Teaching Job: Strategies and Tips From the Field”, designed to answer the following questions: • Looking to begin your teaching career in 2012-13? • Do you know how to look for jobs, and how to be successful in your search? • Do you know what you will be expected to do as part of the licensure process during your first year of teaching? • Do you know how to develop appropriate relationships with the students you will be teaching? • Presenters included Judith Monseur, Ohio Department of Education; Neal Handler, Coordinator of Human Resources, Dublin City Schools; Brad Barboza, School Principal in Gahanna; Matt Cygnor, Executive Director of Human Resources & District Operations, Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools; and Dr. Jim Pinchak, Senior Lecturer, School of PAES, Ohio State University, Former high school principal and state department official. • More than 70 students attended the three break-out sessions!
