  1. EGIS Working GroupFebruary 26th, 2013

  2. Agenda • MapGuide Retirement • Preliminary Solution Design • Prioritization • Next Steps • ArcGIS Online Rollout

  3. MapGuide Retirement Strategy • Status: • Completed approx 20 stakeholder meetings Jan-Feb. • Identified “gotta have” requirements for each stakeholder. • Compiled “gotta have” requirements listing. • Matched the requirements to a preliminary solution design.

  4. MapGuide Retirement Strategy, cont… Preliminary Solution Design

  5. MapGuide Retirement Strategy, cont…

  6. MapGuide Retirement Strategy, cont… Draft Solutions and Draft Prioritization

  7. MapGuide Retirement Strategy, cont… • Next Steps: • Agree recommended prioritization • Further Requirements Detail Per Each Solution • Estimates for Release Planning

  8. ArcGIS Online • Configuration Strategy • Account Set Up: • Administrators assigned from BTS • Provide accounts to end users by request • Advanced functions (i.e. publish to public) to be performed by request

  9. ArcGIS Online • Configuration Strategy • Admin Controlled Groups: • Pinellas Group – Use for publishing to the Pinellas County Organization via the county intranet. • Public Group – Use for publishing to the Public via pinellascounty.org.

  10. ArcGIS Online • Configuration Strategy • User Defined Groups: • Esri recommends that a representative from each stakeholder group manages an ArcGIS Online group for their particular sub work group. • Users will also be able to create and control adhoc groups as needed.

  11. ArcGIS Online • Configuration Strategy

  12. ArcGIS Online • Data Management • (Current Capability) Users may import data layers into an ArcGIS Online map from a file (.shp, .txt, .csv, .gpx), and store it in the cloud. • IMPORTANT TO NOTE: • Pinellas County owns a finite number of annual ArcGIS Online credits. • Data imports result in expenditure of these credits due to the resulting geocoding of data points and storage of data.

  13. ArcGIS Online • Data Management, cont… • To ensure efficient usage of ArcGIS Online credits, data that exists as layers in the eGIS database will not be imported redundantly into the Pinellas County ArcGIS Online account. • eGIS layers must be accessed in ArcGIS Online through feature services published from the eGIS database. If a feature service does not exist in ArcGIS Online for a particular existing eGIS dataset, a request can be made to Pinellas County to publish the data. • There will be a gap in time between when ArcGIS Online is availabe and eGIS data is made available via feature services, therefore eGIS data will not initially be available from ArcGIS Online.

  14. ArcGIS Online • Data Management, cont… • (Future Capability) eGIS data will be available in ArcGIS Online via web services, as eGIS data becomes converted and available. • (Future Capability) Pinellas County basemap will be available in ArcGIS Online as the default basemap option, in addition to the standard “out of the box” Esribasemaps. • The above future enhancements to ArcGIS Online are dependent on the eGIS Data Migration.

  15. ArcGIS Online • Sharing Data • End users will maintain control of confidential data by only sharing it with authorized individuals. • End users will understand the results of sharing data to an individual, the organization or the public and will protect data confidentiality and integrity when using the ArcGIS Online functions available for: • sharing a map or data with “Everyone (public).” • sharing a map or data with the “Pinellas County eGIS” organization. • sharing a map or data with an ArcGIS Online group that provides access to an individual, the public or the Pinellas County organization.

  16. ArcGIS Online • References • What uses ArcGIS Online credits? • http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcgisonline/credits • ArcGIS Online Credit Estimator • http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcgisonline/credits/estimator
