  2. Do the following writing samplesshow voice? If not, how can we edit them to show voice?

  3. 1) I love hot dogs! Hot dogs are the 8th wonder of the world! Okay, it’s probably not smart to think too much about how they’re made, but they are meaty and salty treats! Hot dogs are succulent, pleasurable, and fun. Top ‘em whatever way you want - or be boring and leave ‘em plain – and you’re in for a taste sensation!

  4. 2) There are 36 species of cats around the world. Many cats are domesticated, which means they can live in homes with humans. Cats communicate through sounds and body language. I do not have a cat.

  5. 3) Basketball was created in 1891. A physical education teacher in Massachusetts named Dr. James Naismith invented the game to keep students healthy and in motion. Instead of the basketball net we use today, students threw the basketball into a peach basket nailed onto an elevated 10 foot track.

  6. 4) I feel sorry for people who can’t afford to dress as nicely as me. Many other students in the school wear older clothes that are out of style. I couldn’t wear these old clothes. I would be too embarrassed. These students should save up and buy some decent clothing. Can you believe that many of these clothes are hand-me-downs? It’s outrageous.
