An Off Track team were working on a flume drain at Cwm in Blaenau Gwent

Part of the task was to release an obstruction from inside the pipe. To stop the flow of water whilst the work was carried out, the Injured Person (IP) and Team Leader (TL) had walked up the bank to divert water away from the top of the flume

  • Once complete, the IP and TL made their way to bottom of the bank

  • Whilst doing so, the IP slipped on the wet underfoot conditions and fell

  • In holding out his arm to break the fall, it resulted in him dislocated his right shoulder

  • Paramedics were called who administered immediate treatment to the IP which was effective enough to enable them to walk the IP off site and convey him to hospital for further treatment
