  1. Welcome To First Grade!!!

  2. About Me… Starting my 13th year here! Married 2 Daughters *I am excited about this year!

  3. Schedule • Day 1 – Art • Day 2 – PE (tennis shoes) • Day 3 – Music • Day 4 – PE (tennis shoes) • Lunch – 12:25-12:50

  4. Food…Yum! • Please send a healthy snack with your child each day! It needs to be something he/she can eat while working. • Birthdays – store bought items only. It has to be eaten after lunch and not in cafeteria.

  5. Agendas • Please sign each night. Your child will be writing his/her homework on the lined side so please use the other side for notes/info you want me to know. I will check these daily!!!

  6. Homework • We will start with Math and then add Reading and Spelling. It should not take more than 30 minutes each night to complete everything.

  7. Supplies • Box of 24 Crayons • Plastic Pencil Box • 2 Glue Sticks • Colored Pencils • #2 Sharpen Pencils • Erasers • Scissors

  8. More Supplies… • Book Bag • Box of Tissues • Quart Size Ziplock Bags • MEAD Composition with pages sewn in • OPTIONAL: Clorox Wipes

  9. Conferences • I will schedule a conference with you once all beginning of the year assessments have been completed.

  10. Expected Behavior • We will be using the same “Star System” they used in Kindergarten. Like you, I have high expectations for your child academically and behaviorally…that’s how we accomplish what we set out to do!

  11. Data Notebooks • Students will be charting their own data each week. This will include behavior, reading, writing, and spelling. These will be sent home with each report card for you to review with your child.

  12. Media Center • Students will be allowed to check out 2 books at a time once we complete 3 separate trainings with Ms. Hillman. I will let you know when our check-out day is so you can help remember to send the books back.

  13. T-Shirts • A form will be going home for you to order school t-shirts…students and adults…if you would like. We will wear these for field trips but they are not required.

  14. Field Trips • We will be going on two trips this year away from school…Hiddenite Mines and Lazy 5 Ranch! Parents are encouraged to attend. I will let you know the dates as soon as they are set!

  15. National Geographic • We are asking each student to send in $5.00 to pay for the National Geographic Young Explorer Magazine we will be using this year. Please send this in as soon as possible so we can get them ordered.

  16. QUESTIONS???? • I am VERY excited to have your child in my class this year!!! I look forward to all the things we can do together as a team…YOU, ME, and your CHILD!!!
