  3. A web meeting has two parts. • Part 1 is going to dimdim, creating a meeting and e-mailing an invitation. • Part 2 is opening your e-mail, clicking on the link and joining the meeting.

  4. Create a dimdim account(for Host only) • Open your browser and go to: • http://www.dimdim.com • Click on the “Sign Up Now!” button on the lower left of the screen.

  5. Sign Up! • < Ignore the top two • < Enter a username • < Enter a password • < Enter your e-mail • < Click “Sign up”

  6. Setting up dimdim • Login to dimdim • Click on “Preferences” at upper right • Set your timezone in the General tab • Click the “Features” tab • Set “Audio/Video” to “none” • Click the “Dial-in” tab • Write down the Phone # and passcodes • Click “Save” at bottom then “Home” at top

  7. The Link to your meeting • After you Click “Home”, the link to your “Room URL” will be in the upper right:

E-mail your Meeting Info • The room URL from the previous slide was: http://my.dimdim.com/gloriatinglebot • Your room URL, phone number and passcode will always be the same. • Your room URL ends with your username. • E-mail your: Room URL, the Phone #, the Passcode, the meeting Date and Time to those you want to attend your meeting.

  9. E-mail Example • Hey Tim, Sandy and John. • Here is the meeting info for 8/14/10 3pm: • http://my.dimdim.com/gloriatinglebot • Phone: 702-473-3463 • Passcode: 456742

  10. Joining a Meeting • To join the meeting, Tim, Sandy or John would: • 1 - Click on the link in the e-mail • 2 - Pick up the phone and dial the number • 3 - Enter the passcode • 4 – Listen to music until someone else called in.

  11. Final Steps for the Host • Login to dimdim • Click the big green “Start” button • Click on the orange “Computer Screen” button in the popup to share your computer screen. • If this is the first time you’ve shared your screen in dimdim, it will ask you to download a plugin. Continued …

  12. Host Plugin • The host of the meeting must install the plugin to share his/her computer screen. • Click “Download” then “Run” then click “Run” again when asked. • Restart your computer when asked. • After you restart, you will see the following screen …

  13. After Restart Screen: Checkmark “Disable Auto start on reboot” > Click “Save” then the red X to Close.

Start a Meeting • After the Screen Share plugin is installed a host may start a meeting at anytime. • Open your browser, go to dimdim.com and login • Click the Big Green Start button • Click “Computer Screen” button • Call the phone #, enter the passcode then listen to music until someone dials in.

  15. Options During a meeting, there are 4 options on the upper left. • Show Computer Screen • Show Whiteboard • Show Presentation • Show Web Page • You can switch between the options at will

  16. Hide the Chat Screen At the upper right of the screen: < Click the arrows to hide the Chat Screen and have more space

  17. End the Meeting < Guess where you Click. Close your browser, say bye on the phone and you’re done.

  18. One Last Point When you share your computer screen, everyone in the meeting can see your screen. You can open a document, pdf, spreadsheet or anything for everyone to see. You can collaborate on a document or spreadsheet. It is a great group planning or training tool. The archives chair could do a presentation remotely if someone set up a projector and speaker phone for him.
