  2. Aim The aim of the Seminar is to increase knowledge and understanding of ASEAN 2015 and contribution from Physical Education and Sport for greater commitment, motivation and positive action for ASEAN.

Objectives (1) Knowledge and Understanding of ASEAN 2015 Integration (2) The contributions of Physical Education Sport, Fitness and Recreation to 2.1 ASEAN Economic Community 2.2 ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community 2.3 ASEAN Political Security Community (3) Direction for change and development in Physical Education and Sport towards ASEAN in Thailand.

  4. Knowing ASEAN (1) 45 years of Existence (2) Government Management of ASEAN (3) ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta Indonesia (4) ASEAN Foundation in Jakarta (5) ASEAN Charter (6) ASEAN Non-Government Organizations

ASEAN was established in 1967 Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia “The Association represents the collective will of the nations to bind themselves together in friendship and cooperation and through joint efforts and sacrifices secure for their people’s blessings of peace, freedom and prosperity”

  6. ASEAN COMMUNITY 2015 ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) ASEAN Socio- Cultural Community (ASCC) ASEAN Security Community (ASC) The peaceful, prosperous and people-centric ASEAN Regional production base Single regional market

  7. ASEAN Economic potential is enormous with a single market of close to 600 million people, the 3rd largest in Asia after China and India

  8. The Economic community sees the free-flow of goods and services, investments, skilled labour and capital with a single market and production base.

  9. The vehicle to enhance ASEAN business is the Framework Agreement Sectors and Protocols in 12 industry sectors: Goods and manufacturing: (1) Electronics (2) Wood based products (3) Automotives (4) Rubber based products (5) Textiles and apparels (6) Agro-based products (7) Fisheries

  10. Services: (8) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) e-ASEAN (9) Healthcare (10) Air travel (11) Tourism (12) Logistics

  11. Special Incentives (1) Zero internal tariff (2) Simplification, harmonization of standards and custom procedures (3) Intellectual property rights protection (4) Removal all non-tariff barriers

  12. ASEAN II dialog partners Australia, Canada, China, EU, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia, USA, Pakistan, Gulf States.

ASEAN 2015 Integration Purposes of ASEAN (1) Peace, Security and Stability (2) Strong region, promoting greater political security economic socio-cultural cooperation (3) A nuclear weapon free zone (4) People live in peace, justice, democracy (5) To create a single market and production base. (6) Rid of poverty and narrow development gap.

  14. Good governance, rule of law, protect human rights. • Security when facing threats. • Protect our environment. • Develop human resources through cooperation in education. (11) Equal access to opportunities for human development, social welfare, justice. (12) Drug-free ASEAN (13) Participate and benefit from ASEAN integration. Implications and Contributions • ASEAN people have to think, feel and act ASEAN • Our future is the ASEAN 500-600 million people market • The governments and people have to come together to establish direction vision plans for 2015 ASEAN Community • How are we to contribute to Socio-cultural community Economic community Security community

JOBS ACROSS BORDERS requires changes in human resource education and training for ASEAN WORK. • ASEAN education from pre-school to university, more focus on ASEAN content. • Physical Education and Sport must change to contribute to ASEAN economy and creation of jobs. Focus on the Sport Industry. • Human Resource needs of Physical Education Sport, Fitness Recreation, must be determined and training modules planned and implemented. • Sport industry STRIVES towards self-sufficiency ie. produce the PE Sports, Fitness Recreation needs.
