  1. Media Evaluation By Anisa Saghir Candidate number 6236

  2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? We researched 3 different types of media one of the researches was to look at 3 local radio stations so that we could understand what the different radios stations were like, the stations we had a look at were the pulse, galaxy, BBC 1 and Kerrang. From the research we decided that we would use good quality music like all the stations we researched on did. From galaxy radio we used there dance music we thought that dance music would be the best type of music for our channel. We decided that we would have a females stations which could air in the mornings when mums are dropping there kids of to school. We started to look through www.freeplaymusic.com for free sounds that would fit into our radio perfectly. We wanted to find something fast and quick but yet enjoyable for the jingle. The sound that we found was just right and fitted in perfectly. We chose to discuss the weather on the OB because it was a major part of most people life and it affected so many peoples life's, we interviewed local people so that the vow pops would sound very real like on TV. Our research showed that people wanted to mostly here the local news and the national news, from this we decided to tell headlines from local, national and regional news. Our news script was done good but when we recorded it and put all the jingles and beds together we approximately 2 minutes short. But we still used most of the features and told a variety of the headlines.

  3. How does your media product represent your social group? In our news broadcasting we didn't be biased we tried to have news in general but we decided that will not always be, because we have a female station we will tend to report news that will effect ladies more at times overall we wanted the news that we tell to be of some interest to our target audience. For this section of the coursework we looked at the different News papers which included the courier and the times. The reason why we will not be fully biased is because even women like to know the news of the world and there are different types of women out there who find different news broadcasting interesting therefore trying to keep a range of options will do best for our target audiences. When we recorded the script we tried our best not to changes our voices too much to keep a steady rhythm. Like the news readers would do on TV and also to make it sound professional. Another way we weren't biased was to ask the public in the ob about what they think of the weather. Survey monkey was very helpful because the results that came from them was what we used for our target audiences.

  4. Who would be the audience for your media product? The target audience we have thought of for this media product is young adult females of the ages 18-25 we chose this age group because we believe that they would be the most interested in our music and headlines. But because our channel is mostly aiming at females it gives us a wide range of verity for them and therefore I could widen my range of listeners to of ages 39+. Our channel will basically play lots of fun dance music for all verities of women to suit their busy lifestyles. As we carried out our primary research we found that most people listen to the radio in their car when they are traveling. This could mean that we should aim for the morning and afternoon travels. Travelling , secondary research e.g. found that there's no real market that does women radio channel therefore our radio channel fills that gap Intended target audience = women, secondary audience = men , men want to listen into radio with girls problem because easier because easier to listen to radio then buy a magazine. future could target men, different timing.

  5. How did you attract /address your audience? To begin our radio production we created our own and posted it on survey monkey , this website is like a giant online questionnaire which has all the questions that we wanted answers for. On survey monkey we were able to ask all the questions we wanted to. The top results for this survey showed a lot of information such as the age groups, what news information is preferred, what music is preferred etc. We used these results to help us out with our productions, we used the results such as the music they prefer to listen to the most, and tried to manipulate the results into or productions. When it came to the preliminary exercise we tried to make it perfect, we used some good dance music and made sure that we talked professionally and sounded relaxed. We take in to account what out viewers want we use the e research results to pick most of the music and styles that viewers were satisfaction was considered greatly.

  6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? From this task I have learnt a large variety of skills. Blogging- I learnt how to use a blog and how to edit. Research- www.surveymonkey.com I have learned that this is a great website for research and very easy to use, this program comes in handy lots of time to gain quantitative data analysis. Sound and sources- I learnt how to use www.freesoundmusic.com and adobe pro, in adobe pro I learnt quite a lot I learnt how to mono sounds and stereo them how to raise the volume and play around with different affects such as faders. And constant grain. This program enables you to cut parts and put together parts. Hardware- I learnt how to use a microphone, the headsets the vox pop recorder. Since we have started this project I have learn many new skills and techniques which will com in handy sometime.

  7. Looking back at your preliminary tasks, what do you feel you have learnt in the progress from it to the full product. When we were sitting doing our premilnary we discussed who would be the and the main presenter and then we wrote the scrip and recorded it me and fozia had to take a few takes before it was completely prepared but we didn't sound very relaxed until the final recordings after this was recorded, and just when it was too late we realised that we needed more then that and i need to be more aware of people and aware of what we say and how we say it. From this we learnt that reading from a piece of paper is much more difficult then speaks of the top of my head.
