    1. COMPASSION FATIGUE IN DIABETES CARE PROFESSIONALS: EFFECT OF COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR THERAPY Sanjay Kalra, Komal Chawla, Bharti Kalra

    2. OBJECTIVES Burnout and compassion fatigue are professional hazards diabetes care. To study the effect of cognitive behaviour therapy and eclectic therapy on improving compassion fatigue in the affected workers.

    3. MATERIAL & METHODS Prospective interventional trial to assess Incidence .Causes of compassion satisfaction. Burnout. Compassion fatigue amongst DCPs.

    4. METHODS Pro Qol III administered to 15 DCPs. A pretested 5 point Likert scale was administered. An informal interview was held with the clinical psychologist. DAS administered to all 15 DCPs. Based on score Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Eclectic Therapy given.

    5. RESULTS Fifteen DCPs took part in this prospective , interventional study. They include Doctors Physiotherapists Dietician Diabetes Counselor Laboratory Technician Nurses

    12. DISCUSSION Compassion fatigue is very common amongst DCP. The degree of compassion fatigue or burnout was not related to type of work done. Compassion fatigue was much commoner in women. Compassion satisfaction levels were relatively high in most (10/15) DCPs . Cognitive behaviour therapy and eclectic therapy succeeded in 5/6 patients (83.33%) .
