  3. Outline of Revelation David Tye

  4. Where we are in Revelation • Church has been raptured • 4th temple has been built and the Jews are offering sacrifices • 7 year covenant between antichrist and Israel • Jews flocking to Israel • Armageddon campaign on going • Six Seal judgments – ¼ of mankind dead • Abomination of desolation, gentiles trampling down Jerusalem • 144,000 Jews sealed and evangelizing, uncountable saints seen in heaven • 7th Seal opened, first 4 trumpets judge the earth. • Eagle flying in midheaven – 3 woes • 5th & 6th trumpets – locust from the abyss, 200M locust torturing men, 1/3 of mankind killed • Two of the three woes – 3rd woe coming ---------------------------------- • Earth and Israel still need to be redeemed, and the nations judged • Someone is needed to explain what’s happening • 2 witnesses • Gospel needs to go to all the world • Angel flying - eternal gospel David Tye

  5. What does all of this reveal to you about God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ? David Tye

  6. Where we were last weekRev. 9: 18-21 - Sixth trumpet A third of mankind was killed by these three plagues, by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone, which proceeded out of their mouths. 19For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents and have heads; and with them they do harm. 20And the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; 21and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts. David Tye

  7. Note that there is a parenthetical interlude between seals 6 and 7. Likewise there is now an interlude between trumpets 6 and 7; and we’ll see the same between the 6th and 7th bowls [though a short one]. God is giving us a chance to catch our breaths. David Tye

  8. Third Major Section of Revelation: Ch 4-22 (Benware, “Understanding End Times Prophecy”) Rev. 1:19"Write therefore the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall take place after these things. David Tye

  10. Rev. 10: 1-3 1And I saw another strong angel coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud; and the rainbow was upon his head, and his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire; 2and he had in his hand a little book which was open. And he placed his right foot on the sea and his left on the land; 3and he cried out with a loud voice, as when a lion roars; and when he had cried out, the seven peals of thunder uttered their voices. 13. Rev. 10: 4 4And when the seven peals of thunder had spoken, I was about to write; and I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Seal up the things which the seven peals of thunder have spoken, and do not write them." David Tye

  14. Rev10 – The Little Book/“Prophesy Again” David Tye

  15. Rev. 10: 5-7 5And the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven, 6and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things in it, and the earth and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, that there shall be delay no longer, 7but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of God is finished, as He preached to His servants the prophets. David Tye

  16. Daniel 12:5-9Then I, Daniel, looked and behold, two others were standing, one on this bank of the river, and the other on that bank of the river. 6And one said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How long will it be until the end of these wonders?" 7And I heard the man dressed in linen [Gabriel], who was above the waters of the river, as he raised his right hand and his left toward heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time; and as soon as they finish shattering the power of the holy people, all these events will be completed. 8As for me, I heard but could not understand; so I said, "My lord, what will be the outcome of these events?" 9And he said, "Go your way, Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the end time. David Tye

  18. proleptic aorist tense • Greek aorist tense – action as a point in time, not a duration of time • proleptic - representation of something as existing before its proper or historical time • proleptic aorist - describes an event that is not yet past as though it were already completed, e.g., Romans 8:30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. David Tye

  20. Mysteries • The mystery of Israel's blindness, Romans 11 • The mystery of the Rapture, 1 Corinthians 15 • The mystery of lawlessness, 2 Thessalonians 2:7 • The mystery of Christ, Ephesians 3 • The mystery of Christ in you, Colossians 1 • The God’s mystery – Christ Himself, Colossians 2 • The mystery of godliness, that is God and man, one in Christ, 1 Timothy 3:16 • The mystery of God's will – the summing up of all things in Christ, Ephesians 1:9, 10 David Tye

  21. Rev. 10: 8-11 8And the voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again speaking with me, and saying, "Go, take the book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the land." 9And I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book. And he said to me, "Take it, and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey." 10And I took the little book out of the angel's hand and ate it, and it was in my mouth sweet as honey; and when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter. 11And they said to me, "You must prophesy again concerning many peoples and nations and tongues and kings." David Tye

  23. 11And they said to me, "You must prophesy again concerning many peoples and nations and tongues and kings." David Tye

  24. Let’s put Revelation in contemporary context The Jews in Israel include native-born citizens of almost every country in the world, including the United States of America. Half the UN General Assembly applauded Ahmadinejad’s 2012 rant against Israel. The UN recently unanimously voted against Israel. MahmoudAbbas, president of Palestine, refuses to recognize Israel. King David knew why three thousand years ago. The same reason applies today: “Because for Thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.” [Psalms 69:7] For Palestine to accept Israel would be to deny the Koran. For Israel to yield up Jerusalem would be to deny the Scriptures. Much of the world denies the existence of God openly; they are blind to the battle. If God isn’t real, the battle isn’t real either. 45. Side track: One of the keys to Revelation… The phrase those who dwell upon the earthtakes on a soteriological-eschatological meaning in the book of Revelation for it denotes the unsaved at the time of the end who steadfastly continue in their rejection of God, in contrast to the faithful who are aliens and sojourners upon the earth. These that dwell upon the earth are trusting in man and his environment. They are the spiritual offspring of the humanists of our day. Believers are not among these earth dwellers, for the earth dwellers ultimately hate believers: John 15:19 "If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.” David Tye
