  1. The Revelation of Jesus Christ

  2. The Revelation of Jesus Christ I. The Place of the Book in the Bible

  3. There are 66 books in the Bible • There where other books • written in the Old and New • Testaments but were not • considered Scripture

  4. (Joshua 10:13) And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

  5. (2Sa 1:18) (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)

  6. (Col 4:16) And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.

  7. A. The Isaiah Connection • Isaiah is what is known as a Microcosm • A microcosm is a miniature replica of the larger real thing

  8. Microcosm

  9. A. The Isaiah Connection • Isaiah is what is known as a Microcosm • A microcosm is a miniature replica of the larger real thing • Isaiah has a total of 66 books and it is divided in to 2 parts • Chapters 1-39 and 40-66

  10. (Isa 1:2) Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. Chapter 1 vs. Book 1 (Gen 1:1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

  11. (Isa 40:3) The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Chapter 40 vs. Book 40 (Mat 3:3) For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

  12. (Isa 66:15-16) For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. Chapter 66 vs. Book 66 (Rev 19:11-15) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.His eyes were as a flame of fire… And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations…

  13. (Isa 66:18) For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. Chapter 66 vs. Book 66 (Rev 1:7) Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

  14. (Isa 66:22) For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. Chapter 66 vs. Book 66 (Rev 21:1) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

  15. B. The Daniel Connection • Daniel writes of the same subject in • the Old Testament, just not as in • detail as John • The reason for the lack of detail in • Daniel is…

  16. (Dan 12:4) But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end…

  17. (Rev 1:1) The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

  18. (Rev 19:9-10) And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

  19. (Rev 22:8) And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. (Rev 22:9) Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. (Rev 22:10) And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

  20. (Dan 12:4) But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (Rev 22:10) And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

  21. Argument #1 • It is an Angel that is • leading him and • Daniel is not an • angel.

  22. Answer #1 (Mat 22:30) For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

  23. Argument #2 • Why would God refer to him (Daniel) as a angel?

  24. Answer #2 (Exo 3:2) And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. (Exo 3:4) And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

  25. C. The Genesis Connection • The Bible is an Asian book, • therefore is written in circular form • and not liner form as Westerners • tend to believe. • Therefore what Revelation ends • with is what Genesis began with. • When Revelation ends man is right • back where he started in the • beginning

  26. In Genesis we read: “In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth” In Revelation we read: “I saw a new heaven and a new earth”

  27. In Genesis we are told: “And the gathering of the waters called he Seas” In Revelation we are told: And there was no more Sun

  28. In Genesis God created the Sun, the Moon, and the day and the night In Revelation “there shall be No night there. And the city had no need of the sun, neither the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamb is the light thereof.”

  29. In Genesis, man’s 1st home was beside a river In Revelation, man’s eternal home will be beside a river. “And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb”

  30. In Genesis we find the 1st Adam with his wife Eve in the Garden of Eden, reigning over all the earth. In Revelations we find the last Adam, Christ, with His wife, the Church, in the city of God, reigning over all the universe.

  31. In Genesis we find the 1st attack of Satan against man. In Revelation we find the Final attack of Satan against man

  32. In Genesis, we find the condemnation of Satan prophesied In Revelation, we find the condemnation of Satan realized

  33. In Genesis man hears God say: “ Cursed is the ground for thy sake” In Revelation man will hear God say: “And there shall be no more curse”

  34. In Genesis the Tree of Life is denied to sinful man In Revelation the Tree of Life “yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations”

  35. In Genesis the old earth was punished through a flood In Revelation the new earth shall be purified through a fire

  36. In Genesis, Nimrod rebels and founds the city of Babylon In Revelation, the Antichrist and Babylon are judged and destroyed

  37. In Genesis God destroys an sinful city, wicked Sodom, from the sands In Revelation God presents a heavenly city, new Jerusalem, from the skies

  38. In Genesis the patriarch Abraham weeps for Sarah In Revelation the children of Abraham will have God Himself wipe away all tears from their eyes

  39. Genesis ends with a believer in Egypt, lying in a coffin Revelation ends with all believers reigning forever in eternity where “there shall be no more death”

  40. The Revelation of Jesus Christ The Place of the Book in the Bible The proper Divisions in the Book

  41. A. Keys to understanding the Bible The Bible is not hard to understand it is hard to believe!

  42. (1Th 2:13) For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

  43. A. Keys to understanding the Bible The Bible is not hard to understand it is hard to believe! 2. The bible must be approached Biblically to understand the meaning

  44. (1Co 2:9-14) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

  45. (2Ti 2:15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. • It is possible to be unapproved by God concerning his Word. • It is possible to be ashamed before God when comes to his Word. • It is possible to wrongly didved the Word of God

  46. (2Ti 2:15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. • To be approved of God and not be ashamed requires Study • To be approved of God and not be ashamed requires Work • To be approved of God and not be ashamed requires making Right Division

  47. B. Keys to understanding the divisions of Revelation The position of John at the time of the writing • It is by far more important to understand the when of the writings and not the where. • If a person does not get this key verse down the rest of the Book has no relevance

  48. (Rev 1:10) I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

  49. (Isa 13:8) And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. (Jer 46:10) For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

  50. (Joe 1:15) Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. • The Day of the Lord or the Lord’s Day ids always referred to in the Bible as the Day of Wrath • The title “Day of the Lord” can refer to both, the day that Jesus returns bodily to this Earth or to the time covering the tribulation, the 2nd coming and the 1000 year reign.
