  1. Project Ideas from Kevin Cleary • These three project ideas come from Kevin Cleary, of Georgetown University, who works closely with the ERC • Aurora tracking of PICC line • Calibration of BiPlane Fluoro System • Respiratory motion tracking • All three are projects that I am also interested in and would be glad to see done. • May involve some travel to Georgetown and use of ERC lab here • Dr Cleary’s contact information is • cleary@isis.imac.georgetown.edu • Phone (202) 687-8253

  2. Magnetic Tracking of PICC Line GOAL: To develop a magnetically tracked system to allow insertion of a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) line without fluoroscopic guidance. STATUS: Simulation program developed last year by a CIS2 group. OBJECTIVE: We intend to go to the next step, with a complete program working with the AURORA Magnetic Tracker, possibly validated by cadaver studies in the interventional radiology suite.

  3. Calibration of BiPlane Fluoroscopy System • Goal is to develop software and hardware to calibrate biplane fluoroscopy system at Georgetown • Funds can be made available for machining calibration plate if needed • Access to fluoroscopy system and qualified technologist is available • Want to be able to accurately measure distances under fluoroscopy for eventual use in interventional studies • Contact point: Kevin Cleary, PhD, cleary@georgetown.edu

  4. Respiratory Motion Tracking with the CyberKnife (I) • Goal: Tracking internal organ motion by correlating skin marker movement with internal fiducials (gold seeds) • Construction of Motion Simulator and/or • Data Analysis:

  5. Recapitulation & Local Support • Aurora tracking of PICC line • We have an Aurora in our lab, and we have been developing ways to improve accuracy. • My student, Xiaohui Wu, will be available to consult • Calibration of BiPlane Fluoro System • Direct application of what you learned in 600.445 • Local uses as well • Respiratory motion tracking • Great topic. Have use locally of a Polaris, SW support
