Policies on Workers Assistance • The POEA shall ensure that workers deployed overseas are amply protected and their interest, well being and welfare are protected. • Agencies shall be responsible for the faithful compliance by their foreign principals of all obligations under the employment contract.

  7. Policies on Workers Assistance • Agencies are responsible to report to POEA significant incidents (death, injury or illness, detention, runaway, missing, desertion) to enable POEA to coordinate with concerned entities as to the appropriate action/assistance needed by the worker and his family and to update the POEA records. (MC No. 13 s.1992, MC 01 s. 2005)

  8. Policies on Repatriation • The repatriation of the worker and the transport of remains and belongings shall be the primary responsibility of the agency which recruited or deployed the workers overseas. • When the need for repatriation arises and the principal fails to provide for the costs, the Phil. Embassy/Consulate or Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) at worksite shall simultaneously notify POEA and OWWA of such need.

  9. Policies on Repatriation • The agency shall provide PTA or ticket within 48 hours (or 15 days in cases when no exit visa is available) from receipt of notice. • POEA will suspend documentary processing if agency fails to comply. • The administrative sanction will be lifted after the agency or employer has reimbursed OWWA the cost of repatriation.

Conciliation of complaints of workers who are still at jobsite and/or their families (e.g., contract violations, common welfare problems) 2. Assistance in cases involving seafarers who are still on board the vessel 3. Repatriation of workers, remains and transport of belongings

  11. Welfare Partnership with OWWA 4. Airport/Seaport assistance to repatriated OFWs 5. Legal assistance to OFWs on site on cases of employer-employee relationship 6. OWWA membership benefits: insurance coverage, burial gratuity, reintegration/ scholarship programs, etc. 7. Assistance in non-support cases/unpaid allotments

  12. Welfare Partnership with OWWA Other Relevant OWWA Services 1.Registration for new PDOS providers shall be open to recruitment and manning agencies. 2.This registration shall be effective only for the specific venue and geographical location as applied for, inspected and recorded at OWWA.

  13. Welfare Partnership with OWWA Other Relevant OWWA Services 3. Any changes in the registered PDOS should first be notified and approved by OWWA. 4. Non-cooperation of PDOS Providers in pursuing the recommended improvements shall cause the revocation of PDOS registration. POEA shall take for appropriate action on such report.
