Characteristics • Millions of plants and animals live in the Rainforest ecosystem. • Animals and plants form a food chain. • Animals rely on trees and plants for shelter. • Animals sometimes drink water stored by plants. • Animals rot and fertilize the soil after they die and then they become food for trees and plants. • Animals blend in with trees and bark.

  4. Plant Life • Epiphytes are air plants that live in canopies. • Linias are woody vine like plants that climb up trees. • Bromiliads are plants that grow on tree trunks.

  5. Animal Life • Sloths spend most of their time upside down. • Monkeys have tails that help them move around. • Birds have green feathers that help them blend in. • Capybaras are good swimmers.
