  2. Air conditioning systems are essential in many households and commercial buildings due to their ability to keep us comfortable in hot and humid weather. Unfortunately, air conditioning systems are not immune from problems and can break down from time to time. Fortunately, many common air conditioning problems can be easily fixed with a few simple steps. Let’s discuss some common air conditioning problems and tips to fix them.

  3. 1. Air conditioning unit not turning on IF YOUR AIR CONDITIONING UNIT IS NOT TURNING ON, IT COULD BE DUE TO A VARIETY OF REASONS SUCH AS A TRIPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER, A BLOWN FUSE, OR A FAULTY THERMOSTAT. CHECK YOUR ELECTRICAL PANEL TO ENSURE THE CIRCUIT BREAKER HAS NOT TRIPPED OR THE FUSE HAS NOT BLOWN. IF EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD, TRY REPLACING THE BATTERIES IN YOUR THERMOSTAT.

  4. 2. Poor Airflow POOR AIRFLOW CAN BE CAUSED BY A DIRTY AIR FILTER, A DIRTY EVAPORATOR COIL, OR A FAULTY BLOWER MOTOR. START BY CHECKING AND REPLACING THE AIR FILTER IF IT'S DIRTY. IF THE AIR FILTER IS CLEAN, THE ISSUE COULD BE WITH THE EVAPORATOR COIL OR BLOWER MOTOR, WHICH REQUIRES PROFESSIONAL ATTENTION.

  5. 3. Refrigerant Leaks IF YOU NOTICE THAT YOUR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IS NOT COOLING YOUR HOME EFFECTIVELY, IT COULD BE DUE TO A REFRIGERANT LEAK. REFRIGERANT LEAKS ARE A COMMON PROBLEM AND CAN CAUSE YOUR AC UNIT TO STOP WORKING ALTOGETHER. A LICENSED TECHNICIAN WILL NEED TO INSPECT AND REPAIR ANY LEAKS AND RECHARGE THE REFRIGERANT.

  6. 4. Frozen Evaporator Coils FROZEN EVAPORATOR COILS CAN BE CAUSED BY POOR AIRFLOW, REFRIGERANT LEAKS, OR A MALFUNCTIONING THERMOSTAT. TURN OFF THE UNIT AND LET THE ICE MELT BEFORE CALLING A PROFESSIONAL TO INSPECT AND FIX THE UNDERLYING ISSUE.
