  4. Problem Statement Oscar Mayer is looking for a machine to place the meat into their Lunchable trays. They currently have people placing the meat in by hand. The new design will have to be simple with few robotic features, easy to maintain, easy to clean, flexible for more or less meat, and stay within or around the original $1500 budget.

  5. Research Topics: • OSHA Regulations- Sanitation checklist and regulations on wordpress • Amanda • Catherine • Meat properties • Kelly D • Charlotte • Jennifer • Other companies- How do they package food? What ideas can we take away from them? • Ryan • Jason • Xiran • Types of blade to cut meat- is there anything being used besides the spinning blade we’ve seen? • Josafat • Kaitlin • James • Sensors • Patrick • Kelly K • Emily

  6. Where are we? Using original slicer and moving stacks of sliced meat New Slicer Designs Move in puck form Trap Door Ideas Vertical Slicing blade (slice in stick form) • What do we like about it? • What don’t we like about it? • What do we need to do in order to prove/disprove it? (Testing? Purchasing? Questions needed to be answered?) Cracker inspired design?

  7. Trap Door Prototype: • Cut and attach metal sheet to wood • Cut taller semi-circle from pipe • Drill hole in semi-circle for dowel • Cut hole in sheet and wood • Cut piece of pipe for trap door • Make “plunger” • Cut “meat slices” out of rubber

  8. For Next Week: • Continue with research • Check the wordpress for updates: http://uwboeingteam2013.wordpress.com/ • Username: uwboeingteam2013 • Password: oscarmayer

  9. What do we like about it? • What don’t we like about it? • What do we need to do in order to prove/disprove it? (Testing? Purchasing? Questions needed to be answered?) Meat cut in stick form Ideas Testing Puck Form: Ideas Move pucks, slicer (staggered blades?) Testing Need un-sliced meat Find blades/razors that cut meat Individual slicer: Vibrating test Conveyer Plastic sheets, drilling hole Ideas: weigher at the beginning after slicing Seeing eye are stacks in place Vibrating tank to hold meat before it goes in “box” Box, plunger pushes meat into tray Carrousel: pick up stacks, drop in vertially
