Question-Answer-Relationships(QAR)

Definition – a procedure used for learning where to locate comprehension questions in both narrative and expository texts.

  • This procedure encourages higher levels of thinking. There are four questions types of questions:
  • 1. Right there questions.
    • Answers found easily in text.
  • 2. Think & Search questions.
    • Search in different parts of text.
  • 3. Author& Me questions.
    • Author’s ideas + their own.
  • 4. On my own questions.
    • Use own ideas to answer.
  • QAR Procedure Steps:
  • 1. Read questions first.
    • Preview questions before reading.
  • 2. Predict how to answer the question.
    • Predict the type of question.
  • 3. Read the text.
    • Read while thinking of questions.
  • 4. Answer the question.
    • Locate answers and write them.
  • 5. Share answers.
    • Read answers allowed
