  1. Emotional Stroop Task Aim of the task: To find out whetheremotional content of a stimulus distracts attention from the color-naming task. It is a variant of the original Stroop task (Stroop, 1935). Method: Participants are presented with a set of stimuli and asked to name the ink color while they ignore the word. Emotional Stroop Task • The difference between reaction times of emotional and neutral words indicates the extent to which attention is focused on the emotional content: If colors are named more slowly for emotional rather than neutral words, emotional content interferes with the color naming task. • Effects are shown in anxiety but not in depression (Mogg et al., 1993). © POSbase 2005
