  1. A Journey Around Austrey School Young Geographers Project WELLIES ON WEDNESDAYS!

  2. We can see a little red boat. It went past mountains, a water fall, grass, sticky mud, a pond and stones in the river. Having talked about the environmental features in this fictional text the children in reception took a journey around the school. It went in the estuary to meet the sea.

  4. What can you hear? ‘I can hear the wind hushing in the trees.’ ‘I can hear some birds.’

  5. What can you see? ‘I can see some trees.’ ‘We haven’t got a mountain, we have got a hill.’

  6. What can you see now? I can see a haws. (Marshall) I can see some pencils. Josie Age 4

  7. I can see… I can see a lamp post. I can see a burdbox. I can see a tree. I can see riting. (Holly)

  8. I can see… I can see a fence. I took a picture of a horse.

  9. I can see… We can see a cat. I can see a green house.

  10. I feel… I feel cold in the wind. (Lorena age 4) I can feel the wind in my hair. (Katie age 4)

  11. I feel I felt a bit suprizd! (Joe age 4) I feel muddy.

  12. I hear… I can hear lots of birds.

  13. I hear… Squishy mud. Squerch Squelch

  14. Using known phonics the children added a simple caption or sentence. The class helped by offering suggestions of phonemes needed. Here Lorena waited until she could work alone. Next week – Can we find a stream in Austrey?
