Local Science Assessment integrates instruction with assessment, based on local and state SBI's. Administered twice per year, it features a 6-part evaluation rubric, individual student accountability, online data entry and reports, and student work samples for improvement. Teacher support and cooperative approaches enhance student learning and evaluation. Future plans include lessons in the CAI library and an online scoring system.

Teacher Support Data Collected • 1 – Highly supported by the teacher. Much prompting and feedback. • 3 – Moderately supported by the teacher. Some feedback. • 5 – Independent student work.
Cooperative Approach Data Collected • 1 Whole class. • 3 Small team. • 5 Individualized
Individual Accountability • Students write individual research reports. • Written at school. • Not written in teams.

Student Work Samples • Five samples sent in at each assessment completion time. • Samples are used at in-services to calibrate scoring and to design instructional improvement.
