  1. Makakahi Lodge is a fully refurbished original farm homestead, newly opened in February 2012. We are able to accommodate small , large, or family groups , with our guests total comfort in mind. You will be able to enjoy the adventure playground that our farm provides. Our farm boasts the beautiful Munganui-o-te-o River with its exclusive fishing spots and abundant trout. We also host the endangered Whio (blue duck), with several pairs often occupying our stretch of river. Enjoy taking in the magnificent vistas of Mt Ruapehu, Ngarahoe, Tongariro, Mt Taranaki and the Wanganui National Park. We have large areas of native bush for nature lovers to enjoy, and explore, and for those who enjoy walking, mountain-biking, and horse-riding, the farm is ideally tracked for these activities. We are ideally situated for you to enjoy ‘The Great Ruapehu Bike Rides’ incorporating ‘The Ruatiti Domain Road’, ‘Mangapurua Track’ and ‘The Bridge to Nowhere’. Whatever the time of year we offer a comfortable place to come home to, either relaxing in front of the wood fire after a day skiing or snowboarding, or enjoy the company of friends on the deck, soaking in the mountain view and surrounding hills Makakahi Lodge
