  1. Our Bird Dish, Chapeter 1: Birds in the Sun Our class likes to see birds sitting in the sun, so we got a big flat pan. We hung it with string from a peg. That is our bird dish. We fill it with nuts and bird seed. We add some nuts in shells. Birds come and land on the edge. They peck at the nuts. What birds do we see? Here is a little bird that likes to sing. We call it a finch. It has tan wings and red on its chin and neck and back. And we see black birds.

  6. Our Bird Dish Chapter 2: Seeing the Birds Birds come to our hanging pan. That bird likes nuts in shells. It is tapping on the nut shell with its strong bill. It will crack the shell, get the nut, and drop the shell. Some birds pick up a nut and go off to a branch. Some birds hop from the pans edge into the pan. Nuts fall out on to the rocks and mud. Then the birds go down to get them. When we are checking and filling the pan, we pick up the nut shells that fell. It's fun to see the bird tracks in the mud.
