May 30 Meeting • Brenda Capobianco and Chell Nyquist from Purdue University, Science Learning through Engineering Design (SLED) program • Design based methods class for pre-service teachers and PD for in-service teachers • Integration of inquiry and design • Official “invitation” will be sent out soon

  8. Summer Institute, July 19-20at the Chesapeake Bay Hyatt • Registrations have been sent to project managers. • Lists of four attendees from each project are due on Wednesday, April 18 • Registrations from participants are due by 5 pm on Wednesday, May 30 • Available spaces will be given to others at that time

  9. Project Updates for the Summer Institute • Strength: Describe/share one key assessment that is aligned with any part of the STEM Standards of Practice • Challenge: Describe one facet of assessment that is challenging for your project to address

  12. Invoice Process • Use the approved invoice form • Complete all columns • Check calculations • Sign the completed invoice • Submit supporting documentation

Examples of documentation • Meetings: agenda & list of attendees • Teacher Incentives: be specific about the deliverable • Substitute pay: justify teachers’ absence • Supplies: identify--books, office supplies • Course development: outline, syllabus • Evaluation: summarize completed work, include instruments and results when appropriate

  14. Six month reports: • Reporting timeframe: October 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012 • Two parts: • Budget report--SIGNED • Progress report—SIGNED • Submit by 1 pm on April 30, 2012 to ElissaHozore Forms available on the wiki http://stemnet.wikispaces.com/

  18. Carryover Funds • An amendment is required if the change is $1,000 or 15% of the total category of expenditure, whichever is greater. • Any change greater than 10% must be explained in the budget report. • All budget changes must be explained in progress reports.
