  3. Jefferson’s Revolution • Jefferson and his Secretary of the Treasury (Albert Gallatin) rejected Hamilton’s idea about national debt • Cut Taxes, reduced the Army, closed embassies overseas • Jefferson did put $ into the Navy to deal with the Barbary Pirates
