  1. JUSP…….what I was thinking…… *Example usage, from the JUSP Demonstrator Site, has replaced Derby’s usage for this online version of the presentation The view from Derby* Tim Peacock E-Resources Administrator www.derby.ac.uk

  2. JUSP…….before • Tabbed Excel Spreadsheet: Updated quarterly or more frequently • Reports JR1, some JR3, DBR1 and 3, other • Only partially linked with financial information • Reliable, but not versatile www.derby.ac.uk

  3. You JUSP don’t get it……… • Librarians • Subscription deadlines loom……. • Usage please. Yesterday will be fine, thanks….. • What can you provide? • Available usage is not regularly viewed • They can be surprised with what usage can supply (Cite Them Right) • Occasionally requests for usage at title level • Don’t enquire about what is available / possible • We’re now on a charm offensive to woo greater interaction………….. www.derby.ac.uk

  4. JUSP in time ……… • Sharepoint is used to ‘push’ out to librarians. www.derby.ac.uk

  5. JUSP because it’s there………… • What do we use? • JR1 (with and without backfiles)* • Individual journal search and usage* • * Example usage is from JUSP Demonstrator Site www.derby.ac.uk

  6. JUSP because it’s there………… • Annual publisher usage* • Top 100 titles* • Currently, a total of 14601 titles • * Example usage is from JUSP Demonstrator Site www.derby.ac.uk

  7. JUSP a mo’……. • A trend away from ‘manual’ harvesting, input and homemade presentation • Placing an obligation on librarians to use the LSDD site to access JUSP and other reports • To oblige them more to tell us what they want • To move increasingly towards the third party provision and presentation of metrics: JUSP, EBSCO Consolidation as available examples www.derby.ac.uk

  8. I JUSP don’t know what to do with myself…………. • To what extent are JUSP reports used on a regular reporting basis? The recent Survey details 60% on a weekly or monthly basis…… • How are you using JUSP • What do you so with the JR1 reports you download • What other reports do you use? • How do we manage reporting via JUSP and what isn’t on JUSP? • How do you combine JUSP data with other usage data? www.derby.ac.uk

  9. JUSP a little bit more……… • How do we let others know what JUSP is? • Do you share JUSP data with other library staff? • How do you explain how JUSP works and what it can do? • Where does all this lie in linking to finance? • How do you work out cost per download? www.derby.ac.uk

  10. That’s JUSP about it……….. • We’ll shortly discuss some of the questions mooted earlier in this presentation • Any further questions in the meantime? www.derby.ac.uk

  11. JUSP about done!! Thank you Tim Peacock • T.Peacock@derby.ac.uk • 01332 591204 JUSP rolling along………… www.derby.ac.uk
