  1. (1) Access the Oryzabase http://www.shigen.nig.ac.jp/rice/oryzabase/ (2) Click the “Rice Gene Online Submission” icon on the upper right of the page to access the “Rice Gene Online Submission” website.

  2. Document of gene nomenclature system for rice (4) Fill in your e-mail address and password to login to the submission website. (5) If you forgot your password, click here to get a new password. (3) First, submit your name here to get your password

  3. (6) After the login, the page for registration will appear. Click the “New gene registration” button to register a new gene.

  4. This is the submission page. Items with yellow background are mandatory. 7) Select a gene type from the pull-down menu. If there is no appropriate type in the list, select “Other” and specify it in the box on the right.

  5. 8) If the gene type is phenotype, select a class from the pull-down menu.

  6. 9) Select a species from the pull-down menu. If the list does not have your species, select “Other” and specify it in the box on the right. “Male parent” and “Female parent” are the same as above mentioned.

  7. 10) Please follow the nomenclature rule and avoid duplication by referring to the published gene list. e.g.) Gene name: NARROW LEAF 1 Gene symbol: NAL1 Dominant allele: Nal1-1 Recessive allele: nal1-1

  8. e.g.) Taichung 65 e.g.) backcross population between O. sativa and O. glaberrima, e.g.) Asominori/IR24, KL805/Kasalath

  9. 11) Select a chromosome where the gene locates. 12) If you use genome assembly, please specify the build number and its locus ID. RAP locus ID is preferred. 13) You can add up to 10 references by selecting the number.

  10. 14) If the gene was sequenced, type “<1> GenBank accession number” or <2> upload the FASTA file, or <3> paste its sequence in the box. <1> <2> <3> 16) After checking your content, click the submit button. 15) Any type of image files (mutant image, electrophoresis images, phylogenetic tree and so on) can be uploaded. Please specify the type of image by selecting a radio button or select “Other” and specify it in the comments.

  11. 17) The system will not accept your submission until all required items are filled in.

  12. User’s information can be updated at the “Contributor Information” page.
