  3. Round Robin Sharing Read p. 2 entitled Differences between, and connections between, Content and Practice standards. Highlight 3 items that catch your attention. One person begins sharing their thoughts on one idea from the reading. Moving to the right, each remaining group member contributes their thinking on that same idea. Ideas are offered with no cross talk. After everyone shares. Repeat steps 1 and 2. Continue this round robin sharing three times.

  5. Jig Saw the Reading Each person reads their assigned standards. Highlight the important ideas in these standards and prepare a short summary of these ideas. Take turns explaining your standards to the rest of your table group (3 to 4 min.)

  6. Memories Rethink the tasks/activities we did for OA Addition and Subtraction OA Multiplication For each Mathematical Practice connect the class activity to ideas in the practices. What were you doing as students? What were the instructors doing to foster this practice? Be prepared to share your example with the whole class.

  7. Understanding ‘Understanding’ Read p. 7 Connecting the Standards for Mathematical Practice to the Standards for Mathematical Content How does this reading help you further understand the connections between the Math Content Standards and Standards for Mathematical Practice?
