  2. Crude oil is derived from ancient biomass found in rocks. Many useful materials can be produced from crude oil. Some of these are burnt as fuels. Evaluate the impact on the environment of burning hydrocarbon fuels and the social economic and environmental impact of uses of fuels.

  3. Emulsions are commonly used in many foods. Evaluate the use, benefits, drawbacks and risks of using emulsifiers in foods.

After being used many of these plastic bags are either thrown away as litter or buried in landfill sites. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of using plastic shopping bags made from poly (ethene).

  11. In Brazil, ethanol has been used as a vehicle fuel from many years. Ethanol can be produced by the fermentation of plant sugars, such as those in sugar cane. It can also be produced from ethane gas. Ethene is made from crude oil. Outline the advantages and disadvantages of producing ethanol from plant crops, compared to producing ethanol from ethane.
