Starting blocks are one of the important tools used in track and field at the beginning of sprint races. • These are a gadget implemented in the sports movement to retain track of and arena by turn sports athletes to preserve their feet. • Each runner has his own blocks, and if used properly, they help keep his feet from fall when the starting gun is fired and the competition begins.

Steps to follow while running by use of starting blocks • Walk toward the back into the starting blocks. Many sprinter do this in order to a little loosen up the hamstrings and calves before the race. • Place the base of your power leg, or strongest leg, on the front block to help make onward momentum as you take off.
Place the foot of your other leg on the back block. This is known as your "lead leg" since it comes forward at the beginning to land in front and set you on your way. • Curve your front power leg to concerning 90 degrees, and your back lead leg to about 120 degrees. • Your toes must be on the path and your heels on the blocks. • Push off with your front power leg when the firearm sounds. Your lead leg and the arm on that side must drive out into the path, and not up, as your primary move in the race.
