Vehiclewithelectricdrive • The systems consist of an electric drive motor connected to the axle and a separate generator also connected to the same axle to recover electric power from the kinetic energy of the vehicle. • The recovered energy is stored in a battery assigned to the system. A unique concept for electric vehicles with extended range. The drive system consists of two separate autonomous individual systems for front and rear axle.
Vehiclewithelectricdrive • A single control system (CPU) is arranged to the two stand-alone systems, each of which switches from one system to another system when the battery of the driving system is exhausted. That means in one case predominates front wheel drive and the rear axle is in the loading state and vice versa. • Thus, the range of the vehicle increases till it needs to be charged. The system also includes a Digital Motor Controller (DMC) and a high-power distribution unit (PDU), which takes over the switching and control of motor or generator mode or also expressed as discharging and charging operation.
Vehiclewithelectricdrive Prototype system installed in a VW Golf with marketable individual components • Use of two individual systems with: • Electric motor with max. 105 kW • Battery system with 16 kWh • Range of 900 km at country road operation
Vehiclewithelectricdrive Advantages: Modular in design, two identical drive modules. Generator and motor are physically separated and can thus be optimized for their specific use. 2 separate autonomous systems. Alternatively, front-and rear-wheel drive, depending on the situation an 4-wheel drive is possible for short periods. The kinetic energy of the non-driven axle can be used to charge the system. Much larger range compared to the previously known systems. 900 km range with a prototype (converted VW Golf) reached!
