  1. Achieving the 14-day turnaround Maggie Luck Public Health Screening Coordinator, Camden PCT PCT Commissioning Lead, London QARC

  2. The cancer Reform Strategy ‘Build on progress on cervical cancer screening, by reducing the variation of coverage between PCTs, informing women of the result of their cervical screening test within two weeks of it being taken, using new technologies as and when the research evidence supports this and tackling the falling participation of women aged 25 – 35.’

  3. Achieving 14-day turnaround • The cervical screening programme will ensure that all women receive the results of their screening tests within two weeks by 2010; • Better use of Information Technology • More Advanced Biomedical Scientist Practitioners • Reconfiguring laboratories to make them larger and more efficient • Larger call/recall offices would also reduce turnaround times and allow better facilities to improve coverage • Posting results letters by first class mail

  4. Turnaround times to be monitored locally and commissioners will intervene if the two week turnaround time is not being met. • Advice to the NHS on achieving the two week turnaround time standard will be issued in early 2008… Appendix 2 PCT Operating Plan 2008/9 Commentary Template PCT Name: Camden Date: V. 10. 14/1/08
