  2. A DC Genset is a boon to industries and household as it delivers power quickly without blackout. A DC Genset is an electrical machine that converts mechanical energy into direct current electricity. It uses the principle of energetically induced electromotive force.

  3. How a Direct Current generator works The field coils in Genset produce an electromagnetic field and rotate armature conductors. Then, an electromagnetically induced EMF generates in armature conductors and Fleming’ Right Hand Rule gives direction to induced current.

  4. The amount of voltage generated depends on The power of the electromagnetic field The speed of armature conductor The length of the conductor within a magnetic field The angle at which the conductor intercepts the magnetic field

  5. The Components of DC generator A DC generator consists of three parts mainly- Magnetic field system, Armature and Commutator and Brush Gear. The other components are: Magnetic Frame Yoke Poles and Pole shoes Field winding or field coils Armature Core Armature winding Commutator and brushes End housings Bearings Shafts

  6. Types of a DC Generator There are two types of DC generator 1. Separately excited and 2. Self-excited The self-excited generators include Series wound generator Shunt-wound generator Compound wound
