  1. EIDAProject ( Proposal ) Emergency Intelligent Decision Assistant: Toolkit for Coordinated Emergency Management Research and Technical Background by Claudio Balducelli Sandro Bologna , Adam Maria Gadomski ENEA, July 1995

  2. EIDA - Project (proposal) amg Summary Project Goals Project Methodologies and Tools Project Realization

  3. EIDA Project amg Project Goals : Development of a domain-orientedtoolkitand its validation for a class of Emergency Management active Decision Support Systems. Toolkit : 1) Domain problem conceptualization tools 2) Modeling tools 3) Methodology, methods and techniques 4) Software design tools 5) Software modules

  4. EIDA Project active Decision Support Systems Goal-driven decisional support which is based on: user role-model domain model M-M cooperation model

  5. EIDA Project Project Methodology and Tools - TOGA Basic paradigmes: Top-down Object-based Goal-oriented Approach Basic conceptual couple: Intelligent Agent Environment interaction

  6. EIDA Project Top-down and Object-based : Structural decomposition of concepts Top-down Object-based Representation of concepts in term of objects and relations

  7. EIDA Project Goal-oriented (example): E-M goal (losses, risk, intervention,..) , search search Domain( losses generation events, riskobjects, ..) search support of search Toxic substances risk model Maps (...)

  8. EIDA Project Project main phases 1 - User Requirement specification - Modeling 2 - Tools prototyping and verification 3 4 - Demos (user oriented applications) validation

  9. EIDA Project Generic Emergency Management Scenario 1 N-th Decompositon level: . . . . . . Architecture of an ideal emergency manager 2 integration . . . . Model 1 Model 2 Model 3 Model n Sub-Model 1 . . . . Sub-Model m Sub-Model 2 selection integration . . . 3 Prototype 1 Prototype 2 Architecture of EIDA kernel Prototype m Verification modification User oriented demos 4 modification Validation

  10. Formalization of the Applicative DomainWp1 Summary - Domain of EM Activity - EM Activities and Tasks - EM operators organizational structure

  11. Formalization of the Applicative DomainWp1 Methods and Tools - Domain of EM Activity -> Reusing Muster Model - EM Activities and Tasks -> Use Task Analysis - Agents organizational structure ->ISEM Model Muster and ISEM are EUprojects.

  12. Definition of Models and System Requirements Wp2 Summary - Definition of a Common Terminology - Single Agent Model - Decisional Model Based on Agents Cooperation

  13. Definition of Models and System Requirements Wp2 Methods and Tools Physical Domain of Activity Single Agent Model ( TOGA Th.): Data acquisition Actions Abstract - Domain; a representation of Physical Domain of Activity AD AD New Information Decisions Agent Preference System P Goals K P Agent Knowledge System K

  14. What-if simul. Domain models Emergency org. models Role-preferences Definition of Models and System Requirements Wp2 Methods and Tools -> GEMS top-activities loop Detecting/ monitoring Decision- Making Previsions Diagnostics Information acquisition: with/without request Cause searching Consequence searching Action / task choice Comunication Agent Evaluator Agent Diagnostic Agent Action Selector Agent

  15. Definition of Models and System Requirements Wp2 Methods and Tools Diagnostic agent structure: Domain representation -> focused on the Causal Trees of the Emergency EventsandRisk Objects Preference System -> the agent goal is to send to the evaluator agent more and more precise informations about event causes and event characterization Knowledge System -> has the task to executeCause Searching Process. It could be based on Case Based Reasoning approach

  16. Definition of Models and System Requirements Wp2 Methods and Tools Evaluator agent structure: Domain representation -> focused onCausal Trees of the Emergency Events andRisk Objects Preference System -> the agent goal is to refine evaluations performing aConsequence Searching Process Knowledge System -> is supported byNumerical Simulators and/or executes a qualitativeCase Based Reasoning

  17. Definition of Models and System Requirements Wp2 Emergency propagation map Domain model primary event cause searching model registrated event consequence searching model Domain model - risk A.M.Gadomski, 1995

  18. Definition of Models and System Requirements Wp2 Methods and Tools Action selector agent structure: Domain representation -> focused on organizational emergency structure, management resourcesand physicallayout; Preference System -> the agent goal is to choice the best recoveryactionsandprocedureson the basis of evaluation results; Knowledge System -> is composed by an action selector and an action executor. The action selector could be supported by a aRule Based processing.

  19. Specification of EIDA ToolKit Kernel Wp3 Methods and Tools - Choose of adeguate final software environment. - Software functional Specification and Testing (for the different agents) using a Case Tool - Design a Protocol for Data exchange between the agents - Design the Users Interface architecture

  20. Implementation and Validation of EIDA ToolKit Kernel Wp4 -Wp5 Methods and Tools - Incremental implementation of the EIDA software Agents - Verification and Validation of the produced Kernel modules respect at least two different Users oriented prototypes. - Generalization of the produced ToolKit to support its utilization in other application of the same class

  21. Set of decision-support tools (agents) Intelligent interface (agent) EIDA System EIDA proposal Toolkit for Coordinated Emergency Management Coordinator Emergency manager
