  2. An Epidemic There is an epidemic of insecurity in society today. Many people suffer from an unhealthy need for affirmation. They are not capable of feeling good about themselves. For some the quest for approval becomes an actual addiction, as they seek self-worth from the outside world because they can't find it within themselves

  3. Addiction An addiction is something that controls people- something they feel they can not do without or something they do to alleviate pain or pressure. It is what people run to when they are hurting or feeling lonely

  4. Steps to get out Enjoy your new identify in Christ Deal with your addiction The Balance Enjoy your wholeness in Christ

  5. Neil Anderson PP20 We cannot do anything to qualify for unconditional and voluntary love. We labor under the false assumption that if we live perfectly everybody will accept us, while there was One who lived His Life perfectly , and everyone rejected him.

  6. St Cyril Of Alexandria On Jn 1:12 we too shall be sons of God, not like Him in exactitude, but by grace in imitation of Him. For He is Very Son, existing from the Father; we adopted by His Kindness, through grace receiving I have said, Ye are gods and all of you are children of the Most High.

  7. Who is Judging me? But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. 1 Cor 4:3,4

  8. Whom are you pleasing? For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. Gal 1:10

  9. I am God’s Child But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. Jn 1:12

  10. I am Christ’s Friend • No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. Jn 15:15

  11. St Cyril On Jn 15:15 The reward of friendship with God which was then seen in Abraham first is intimately conjoined with the freedom which comes by faith, and now also it is seen in the holy disciples as the firstfruits of a new generation.

  12. I am united with the Lord and one with Him in Spirit  But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. I Cor 6:17

  13. ST Cyril of AlexandriaThis excerpt from Saint Cyril of Alexandria's commentary on the Second Letter to the Corinthians (Cap. 5, 5-6, 2: PG 74, 942-943) Our lives are all controlled by the Spirit now, and are not confined to this physical world that is subject to corruption. The light of the Only-begotten has shone on us, and we have been transformed into the Word, the source of all life. While sin was still our master, the bonds of death had a firm hold on us, but now that the righteousness of Christ has found a place in our hearts we have freed ourselves from our former condition of corruptibility”.

  14. I am a member of the body of Christ Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually (μέρος = in this regard) . I Cor 12:27

  15. Love yourself 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matt 22:37-40

  16. Deal with your addiction Getting past your past. 2 Cor 5:17 Think right. Prov. 23:7 Talk right. Rev 12:11 Act right. Eph 2:10 Seek the remedy of Immortality while you are leading a life of repentance. Jn 6:57,58

  17. Are you a controller ? Admit it to yourself . Repent, confess and Ask God to forgive you and to teach you to respect other people’s rights Ask the people you have been trying to control to forgive you. Encourage them and ask them to confront you whenever it is needed Do not give up or get discouraged if your change takes time

  18. Are you controlled? Admit to yourself Repent and confess your weakness and your distorted image of yourself Discuss ( if possible) in full respect with others to show them that you are not going to be controlled and or abused any more Do not give up or get discouraged if your change takes time

  19. THE BALANCE There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:    a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,  a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,   a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,  a time to search and a time to give up,  a time to keep and a time to throw away,a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,a time to love and a time to hate,  a time for war and a time for peace. Eccl 3:1-8

  20. The wholeness in Him For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Cor 5:21

  21. Conformity!!! • For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Rom 8:29

  22. St Cyril of AlexandriaThis excerpt from from a commentary on the gospel of John (Lib. 10: PG 74, 434) by Saint Cyril of Alexandria After Christ had completed his mission on earth, it still remained necessary for us to become sharers in the divine nature of the Word. We had to give up our own life and be so transformed that we would begin to live an entirely new kind of life that would be pleasing to God. This was something we could do only by sharing in the Holy Spirit.
