  1. GSM/GSM-R Lineside Telephone with Data Capability Unipart Rail together with Lloyds Register Rail has collaborated to develop a new wireless, self-contained telephone. It has been designed to be positioned at any lineside location where voice and / or data communication is required. Background Lineside telephones have historically relied upon copper cabling and, where required some form of transmission system to provide communication from the telephone to the control location. The availability and reliability of GSM and GSM-R networks provides a viable alternative to traditional lineside communications. The GSM / GSM-R lineside telephone’s multi-functional capability provides a low cost opportunity for data transfer as well as voice communications. • Data connectivity • The GSM / GSM-R lineside telephone’s flexible data capabilities can provide remote condition monitoring and / or control of a variety of lineside equipment including: • User worked crossing gate position • External camera equipment • Obstacle detectors • Dynamic signage • Data can be provided in a variety of formats including SMS and email. Data can also be transferred to a central management system for processing and interfacing with external systems.
