What are the applications and the benefits of clamp terminal blocks?

Clamp terminal block is an integrated, insulated connector which secures two or more wires together. The terminal blocks are the connectors which enable more than one circuit to connect to other. These terminal blocks or connectors have two long copper or aluminum strips which are engineered to connect different circuits. It is used to secure and terminate the wires in the arrangement in which several individual terminals are placed in the long strip. These blocks are helpful in joining wiring to the ground or for connecting electrical switches and outlets to the mains in the case of electrical power.

  1. Terminal blocks are usually made up of a copper alloy with the similar expansion coefficient as of the wire designed for the application. This not only avoids loosening due to the different expansion rates but also minimize corrosion produced by electrolytic action among two different metals. There are several different methods which terminal blocks may use to attain the wire connection. •Spring clamps make the use of the force of a spring to hold wire clamping. They are the best alternative to screw clamp terminal blocks. They are specifically useful in the applications using small wire diameters and inadequate working space. •Screw clamps terminal blocks make the use of a screw to tighten the wire and develop an electrical connection. Screw clamps are the industry standard termination technique. This type of method provides a reliable connection by accommodating a very wide range of wire sizes. This kind of clamp terminal block can accommodate a huge range of wire sizes and offers a consistent connection. •IDC (Insulation displacement connections):In this technique, the wire between two sharp pieces of metal is pushed in order to establish a connection without exposing any bare wire. •In this method, the tab connections are developed to be inserted and removed quickly without the requirement for soldering. They are also called as blade or spade terminals. •The screw clamp terminal blocks provide efficient accessories and features at the same time serving a vast scope of applications. There are a number of benefits of using terminal blocks. Have a look at the few important benefits- •Maintenance and troubleshooting operations are reduced. The screw is locked for complete safety. Assembly time is faster due to the locking pin. Ten pre-assembled blocks can be plugged-in on the rail at a time. •Superb marker visibility due to the exclusive top marking location. Small space requirements allow high wiring density. •High-density capacity screw clamp terminal blocks connection can be fit up to two conductors per clamp that deliver extra possibilities in electrical cabinets. In terminal blocks connection, the term "contact", also called as a position, the method refers to the wire connected to the block. The exact number of contacts is a vital specification when considering the product, as a buyer, it is important to match this number with the number of wires mandatory for the project or application.
