  2. Why Are We a Title I Campus? Under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), campuses with high numbers of economically disadvantaged students (75% or above) must be served with federal Title I funds. It is the District’s decision to serve schools below 75%. Villarreal Elementary, our School Nameis approximately 81% economically disadvantaged.

  3. What does it mean to be a Title I school ? A Title I program is designed to help students achieve academic success by providing additional opportunities through supplemental funds.

  4. How Does this Happen? Villarreal Elementaryreceives approximately $265,000from the federal government that must be spent according to strict guidelines. Title I schools must use scientifically research-based instructional strategies and implement a parent and family engagement program.

  6. How do we know how to use the money? Each year a Campus Improvement Plan must be developed based on a campus comprehensive needs assessment. This plan includes strategies that note the schoolwide elements of a Title I Program.

  8. Parent Information • Parents have the “Right to Know” the qualifications of their child’s teachers. The Right to Know Letter is sent to all parents at the beginning of the year. • The Parent and Family Engagement Policy is sent to all parents at the beginning of the year. • The School-Parent-Student Compact is sent to all parents at the beginning of the year and is reviewed at each parent-teacher conference throughout the year.

  9. Parent and Family Engagement Opportunities • Family Nights and Parent/Student Events • P.T.A. Board • School Advisory Team • Parental and Family Engagement Committee • Parent/Teacher conferences occur twice a year and upon parent or teacher request anytime during the year.
