  1. Light and Living Things Chapter 3 Test Notes

  2. I will study tonight my test notes because I want an “A.” A transparent object that forms an image by bending light is called a lens. Visible light only represents a small band within the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

  3. Infrared waves warm the Earth. Light is an EM wave that can travel through empty space or matter. When light travels through a medium that changes, the light refracts.

  4. A magnifying glass and the human eye use a convex lens to form images. When you look at an opaque object, you see only the colors that are reflected.

  5. Your eyes detect light that is reflected by an object. • Ultraviolet light waves have shorter wavelengths than visible light waves do.

  6. Light travels in straight lines when the material light travels through does not change.

  7. Concave and convex lenses use refraction to form images. An electromagnetic wave consists of changing electric and magnetic fields.

  8. A rainbow forms when white light separates into different colors during refraction.

  9. Light microscopes and telescopes both use two convex lenses to form images. A convex lens forms only virtual images.

  10. The law of reflection states that the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. Light interacts with matter during reflection, absorption, scattering, and transmission.

  11. I don’t need therapy, I just need my boat. Take a two minute break.

  12. The moon is an illuminated object. Ultraviolet light is an electromagnetic wave that your skin needs to produce Vitamin D.

  13. Electromagnetic waves are produced by the vibration of an electric field and a magnetic field together.

  14. An interaction of light with matter that causes light to change direction is called scattering.

  15. The transfer of light waves to particles of matter is called absorption.

  16. Have a Nice Day!
