Group Work: Directions to Student Please do not move until I have reviewed all of the directions! • You will get a playing card • Do not flip it over until everyone has a card • The card represents which group you are in (random today!) • You will cluster the desks together in the area where your number is hanging in the room • You will break down the stanza on your poster and write a 1-sentence summary of it • Everyone in the group should write • You will have a stanza cheat-sheet to use • Raise your hand if you have questions • Your group members will be evaluating you

  13. Assignment • You will rewrite your stanza in the style of a modern icon • You will use first person • The overall message/summary from the stanza must be maintained • Be as creative as you would like • Think: how would your celebrity talk about the experience of the narrator? *Rubric!!!

Example: Honey Boo Boo • Brainstorm on the board: what is her style? • What are her taglines? • What are her habits? • What is her personality like? • Stanza 9 Summary: • The narrator is really surprised that the bird can talk. He comments that no one he has ever known has an animal in his house perched on a statue, especially one named Nevermore.

Spacey, serious, neurotic, etc. • Rewrite your stanza combining this style with your summary of the content • Place all names on the paper • Raise your hand when you are done • Class votes on the best one for Mohap Money
