  4. The school produces its on mulch through • an on campus collaboration between • Food Services and ASU recycles.

  5. Pre consumer waste is composed into nutrient rich mulch, • that is used to fertilize the plants.

  6. There is a wind turbine on Appalachian State University campus, as a result of a student led installation project. The 100-kilowatt, community-scale wind turbine project, was completed in 2009 on Global Wind Day. The turbine will generate electricity that will be fed into the system operated by New River Light and Power.
