GO clinics Curing all your ontology ills
The problem • Many unresolved SourceForge items: • many people involved in discussion/long thread, never reaches conclusion • unresolved disagreements • requires some change in policy that needs face-to-face discussion
The solution: GO clinics* • Dedicated sessions of time for specific SF items • Submitter + GO eds + other interested parties • 30 – 45 minute slots • Items nominated in advance of clinic, posted publically • Shouldn’t attempt very contentious items • * This idea came from Emily, Ruth & Val who thought it up in the pub. Enough said.
GO clinics • Pilot session during September GOC in Cambridge • Set aside an afternoon, people turn up at the time of their item • If item remains unresolved after allotted time, discussion is ended • An appointed ontology editor will act as chair for each discussion
GO clinics • Example SF items for clinic: protein processing SF:1000275, 1232819 & 1913777 What is the distinction between protein processing and protein modification?
