Adding garage floor protection can make a lot of sense for several different reasons. First off, it will protect your concrete floor from stains and damage due to items being dropped on it. Second, a good system will offer an increased level of safety. Many of the slip and fall accidents that happen around the home are centered in the garage even though we usually are only aware of how dangerous the bathroom and in particular the bath tub are. Lastly, a coating or covering over the garage floor will make cleanups much easier after any kinds of projects including car repairs.

  1. Garage Floor Protection Tips Adding garage floor protection can make a lot of sense for several different reasons. One of the best ways to protect a floor is with anti-slip mats. These are a recent innovation in home garage care but they are catching on as more floor grip medic and more people decide that the floor really does merit attention. Also, since we have become so mobile, you are never sure how long you will live in a particular home. It makes no sense to spend thousands of dollars to have a contract apply an epoxy garage floor coating and then you just move away. With garage mats you can pick them up and move on. There are two main types of garage floor mats in use today. The first is the roll kind. As the name suggests, all you do is roll the mats out and you have a great looking floor. The standard width is ten feet and if your space is wider than that you just add a bonding tape to stick two rolls together by bonding each side of the matting. The down side is this tape can come loose and allow oil and other chemicals to seep through and sit on the concrete surface underneath.

  2. The second type is composed of interlocking tiles which just snap together. These are made of an impact resistant plastic and they also resist most chemicals found in home garages. These tiles have a lip build around each one which captures liquids and directs them away from the concrete surface below. Being plastic, you can get these tiles in almost any color under the rainbow desire and they will not fade like some other products will. Both of these mat styles include a good anti-slip surface so you won't slip and hit your head or break a leg. They also can make your back feel a lot better if you tend to stand on the hard concrete all day long. These are just a lot of pluses for this style of covering and not many downsides.
