TMH AND TRH DOCUMENTS • SET B – Covers roughly A6 and B18 of TMH1 and two new methods • 3001-GR2 The Dry Preparation and Dry Particle Size Analysis of Graded Materials. • 3001-AG2 The Determination of the Average Least Dimension of Aggregates by Direct Measurement. • 3001-PR2 The Determination of the Average Least Dimension of a Surfacing Aggregate by Computation. • 3001-PR3 The Computation of soil-mortar percentages, coarse sand ratio, grading modulus and fineness modulus. • SET C – Covers A7 and A8 of TMH1 • 3001-GR30:06 The Determination of the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of graded materials. • 3001-GR31:06 The Determination of the California Bearing Ratio of graded materials.
TMH AND TRH DOCUMENTS • The production of essential normative reference methods which are being done in the next phase were needed before SABS can publish Sets A to C. • Work on next phase (Sets 1 to 5) is progressing well SET 1 • 3001-AG1 The particle size analysis of aggregates by sieving. ** • 3001-AG3 The determination of the flakiness index of coarse aggregate. • 3001-AG10 Aggregate crushing value of coarse aggregates. • 3001-AG11 FACT value (10% fines aggregate crushing value) of coarse aggregates. • 3001-AG20 The determination of the dry bulk density, apparent relative density and water absorption of material retained on the 5mm sieve. • 3001-AG21 The determination of the dry bulk density, apparent relative density and water absorption of material passing the 5mm sieve. ** Needs to be given priority as it is required as a normative reference for methods in Pilot Stage.
TMH AND TRH DOCUMENTS SET 2 • 3001-GR31 The determination of the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of laboratory mixed stabilized graded materials. • 3001-CO1 Mixing in the laboratory, sampling of freshly mixed concrete, casting and curing of test specimens. • 3001-CO2 Consistency of freshly mixed concrete – the determination of the slump. • 3001-C10 Dimensions, tolerances and uses of cast test specimens. • 3001-C11 Compressive strength of matured concrete. • 3001-PR10 The handling, maintenance and sieving techniques for test sieves. ** • ** Needs to be given priority as it is required as a normative reference for methods in Pilot Stage.
TMH AND TRH DOCUMENTS SET 3 First drafts have been submitted by SABITA to their members for comment. MTC had a meeting in January 2008 with SABITA regarding these test methods. • 3001-AS1 Making of briquettes for Marshall tests • 3001-AS2 The determination of Marshall flow and stability • 3001-AS10 The determination of bulk relative density and void content of compacted asphalt • 3001-AS11 The determination of the maximum theoretical relative density of asphalt mixes and the quantity of binder absorbed by the aggregate • 3001-AS20 The determination of the binder content of a bituminous mixture (indirect method).
TMH AND TRH DOCUMENTS SET 4 Second drafts have been prepared based on industry feedback. • 3001-GR31 The determination of the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of laboratory mixed stabilized graded materials. • 3001-GR50 The preparation, compaction, and curing of specimens of laboratory mixed stabilized graded materials. • 3001-GR51 Sampling, preparation, compaction and curing of field mixed freshly stabilized graded materials including the determination of the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content. • 3001-GR52 Sampling and preparation of cored specimens of field compacted matured stabilized graded material. • 3001-GR52 The determination of the Unconfined Compressive Strength of stabilized graded materials. • 3001-GR53 The determination of the Indirect Tensile Strength of stabilized graded materials.
