  1. East Japan Strategies with goals (By the end of 2012. . . .)

  2. 1. Plant reproducing churches a. Six OMF-led churches will have become independent of OMF. Three churches will have started daughter churches and 10 “house churches” will have been started. b. We will have started at least one new church in Tohoku and one in Kanto in cooperation with JECA churches. c. We will have started or developed churches as centers for training church planters and planting daughter churches. d. All OMF-led churches will have cross-cultural missions as a priority and will be mobilizing believers towards active involvement in missions.

  3. 2. Evangelize with bold new initiatives a. We will be routinely identifying and inviting gifted evangelists (inside and outside of OMF) to: * contribute to the outreach ministries of OMF church planting teams * teach and train missionaries and Japanese in evangelism b. We will be routinely assisting the local church in their ministry to the following “neglected pockets” of Japanese society: • the elderly • the disabled • business people • 13-30 age group • isolated youth • specified ethnic groups c. We will be assisting churches to use the Internet for evangelism.

  4. 3. Serve and encourage the national church a. We will be providing missionaries to cooperate with churches that have a vision for church multiplication. b. We will be sending missionaries for training in national churches. c. We will be inviting Japanese nationals to do internships in OMF-led churches. d. We will have become actively involved with networks for church planting. e. We will be regularly providing training opportunities for church planting. f. We will provide at least one teacher for theological education. g. We will be recruiting short-term workers to assist in churches.

  5. 4. Strengthen specialized ministries a. We will have researched the on-going need for skilled workers in impacting various segments of Japanese society including: • sports (e.g. Sportsnet) • business (e.g. VIP Club) • returnees (e.g. JCFN) • art & music (e.g. Black gospel outreach) • students (e.g. KGK) • compassion ministries (e.g. homeless, disaster relief, gift box) b. According to our research, we will assist these ministries where needs are identified and provide resources.

  6. 5. Provide short-term ministry opportunities a. We will be routinely working to place suitable short-term workers in all OMF ministries as needed. b. We will have recruited short-term teams to facilitate the following ministries: • urban youth • children • Tokyo business people and professionals • Christmas evangelism • summer evangelism • prayer c. We will be working to recruit people with local experience to facilitate the team ministry in the local church.
