  1. Commuter Safety in SMRT-Operated MRT Lines: Things to Know The public transportation system in Singapore is the safest, most reliable way to travel. SMRT Trains Ltd., the leading Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) operator in Singapore, continues to build a safe commuting environment. It operates and maintains the North-South and East-West Lines, the Circle Line, the new Thomson-East Coast Line and the Bukit Panjang Light Rail Transit system. It serves millions of commuters every day with a ‘safety-first’ mindset. Here is how SMRT is promoting commuter safety in MRT rail lines. • SMRT has appointed the Escalator Safety Committee that formulates strategies for reducing escalator-related injuries. • It conducts “WeCare About Your Journey" safety roads hows to raise awareness on the safe use of its facilities. • The operator has implemented the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System to provide training to staff, manage risks, enhance security, prepare for emergencies, handle incidents, and analyse data. • SMRT has launched the Speed Tester for Train Traction Control Unit (TCU) Blower. It tests the low- and high-speed functionality of the TCU blower. • It is using Remote Third Eye from Power to virtually do the inspection of rail infrastructure, reducing risks of injury. • The company has acquired VA Detection / Intrusion System in BPLRT Depot. • It has installed Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) Locks for non-public doors in the North-South and East-West stations. • SMRT has adopted a risk-based approach supported by automated condition monitoring and tracking systems. • It regularly conducts security vulnerability checks to assess risks in its infrastructure and network. It ensures compliance with security procedures under the Code of Practice (CP 1 and 6). • SMRT hosts a Risk, Audit and Compliance (RAC) Meeting, chaired by Group CEO, Neo Kian Hong, to govern the safety and security systems and drive safety messages across SMRT. Its systems and rail infrastructure are regularly audited by the Land Transport Authority and other government bodies to ensure it is complying with various safety and security requirements. • The operator participates in the CoMET and Nova railway benchmarking group and adopts best practicesto benchmark its safety performance against other urban metros. • SMRT has also partnered with DuPont Sustainable Solutions on the Kaizen Safety programme to bring safety mindfulness into the work environment and workforce discipline and ensure compliance and accountability. The safety efforts by SMRT has helped it to receive Safe Rail Line of the Year - Certificate of Excellence at the 21st Annual Safety Award Convention by the Land Transport Authority for the

  2. North-South Line. It has also received the Best Service Partner (Team) award for its Integrated Maintenance Office System Safety Branch. Commenting on the safety initiatives taken by the company, SMRT CEO Neo Kian Hong said: “We will continue to focus our efforts on sustaining high-level of reliability.
