  1. Today’s EQ • Today you will be creating a resume • This will match out EQ 6 for Language: How do I enhance my academic/workplace vocabulary?

  2. Please list all the sections your resume needs #5 on your sheet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbdS_UFiEow (If you have headphones) • If you do not have headphones, read this for #5: https://www.thebalancecareers.com/high-school-resume-template-2063264

  3. Do's and Don’ts for Resumes • For job experience, write in the past tense for old job and the present tense for current job. • Old job: Provided pet sitting services, including dog walking, feeding, and yard care • Current job: Provide pet sitting services, including dog walking, feeding, and yard care • Keep the resume formatting the same throughout • Use a professional email address • Keep it one page only • Every experience line should begin with a verb-but never repeat verbs (Ex: handled, provided, claimed, assisted, managed, etc etc)

  4. Your turn!  Directions: You are going to create a resume using the techniques you've learned.  Option A: Write a resume for yourself Option B: Write a resume for someone who is well known in your career field (this may sound easier, but it requires you researching info on them). Option C: If you already have a resume, I must see it! If it needs editing, then you have to edit. If it doesn’t, then you will follow Option B

  5. Directions • Go to your school email/one drive account. If you are logged in under a friend, then go to theirs and when you are done share with me and yourself. Make sure you title it with your name! • Click on Word (in the waffle) and you should see the "Simple Resume" template • Begin creating your resume. When done, share it with me! Malcolmk@rcschools.net. This will be a grade for your Standards (EQ 6 Language).

  6. Tips for sections Objective: What do you want? Ex: To obtain a marketing job that utilizes my previous sales experience.  Skills: Computer/technology skills/interpersonal and intrapersonal skills Experience: Anything little counts, even volunteering or babysitting. You can make anything simple sound good!
