  1. Inventors and Inventions

  2. Alessandro VoltaInventor Of The Battery(1745-1827)

  3. Alessandro Volta Who is Alessandro Volta? • The inventor of the first battery • An Italian physicist • Studied electricity along with his friend, Luigi Galvani… DiDYoUKnOw? The electrical unit, volt was named after him in his honour.

  4. ???? Who is Luigi Galvani? • An Italian physicist • Discovered that muscles of dead frogs’ legs twitched when struck by a spark • Assumed that the tissues of the frogs legs contained electricity !!

  5. First battery . Alessandro Volta? • Friend & colleague of Luigi Galvani • Did many experiments to test Luigi’s theory • Proved Luigi wrong – frog legs do not contain electricity • Through the process of doing all the experiments he invented battery!! voltaic pile

  6. Why our group like his invention? • Won’t be able to use battery operated appliances without his invention • computer gaming • Watch television

  7. What are his values? • Perseverance • Open-mindedness

  8. Why our group like his invention? We like Alessandro’s invention as we would not be able to do all the things we love to do like computer gaming, watching television and much more battery-operated things.

  9. What we like about the inventor? • His perseverance and self-confidence he did not give up he dreamed big and set challenging goals for himself

  10. Volta • Became a physicist at the age of 14 • Invented battery at the age of 55 in year 1800 • Died at the age of 82 • The term “volt” was named after him

  12. Why did he invent the battery? In 1791, an Italian physicist called Luigi Galvani discovered that the muscles of dead frogs legs twitched when struck by a spark. Luigi assumed that the tissues of the frogs legs contained electricity. But Alessandro, Luigi’s colleague did many experiments to prove that Luigi was wrong. And by doing all the experiments, Alessandro thought of a way to invent the battery.

  13. What we like about the inventor? We admire Alessandro for his perseverance and self-confidence. At the age of 14, he realized his dream was to be a physicist. He had confidence that he could become a successful physicist. With perseverance, he did.

  14. What are his values? He persevered and was open-minded to think of a great invention such as the battery to make electrical equipment easier to handle.
