  1. Daily Engage Session The Best Way To Run A Team Briefing

  2. Engage; involve, bind, engross

  3. What’s The Relevance Of A Team Briefing • A team briefing is a perfect opportunity to engage with your associates. • It is a way to motivate and ramp up performance • You can communicate daily expectations • This is also a time to update associates on previous day performance • It is a time for the manager to set expectations and focus on business priorities

  4. How to engage • Find a focal point in the store where there is limited disturbances where everyone can huddle together • Choose a place where your associates can stand up • Avoid meeting in places where there are disturbances, were cleaning or setting up is going on or where there can be distractions • One of the most important parts of your engage moment is the first 2 minutes

  5. Engage purposefully • In the first 2 minutes set the mood for the rest of the engagement • Start off with some exciting news, some great performance of positive feedback from customers. • Congratulate a top performer • Get everyone to welcome a new team member • Lift the team energy from the get go, set a great mood for the rest of the session

  6. Some important information to share • Previous Day turnover • Daily Budget • Promotions • Customer Counts • Sales Targets and Extras Targets • Any Challenges, Stock run outs etc • Year on Year and Month on Month Growth

  7. Keep it short and simple • An engage session should never last more the 15 to 20 minutes • If a discussions starts to drift sideways shut it down and engage with the associate on a one on one basis • In an Engage session you’re looking for short and precise messages • Ask for performance pledges and avoid barking instructions – don’t tell somebody to make x sales, ask everyone to make performance pledges • Encourage associates to set their own stretching targets, they are more likely to reach them if they commit to them

  8. Identify issues and find solutions • Engagement time is a perfect opportunity for everyone to raise and share problems they may be having • It maybe equipment, product or customer related issues • If there is no immediate solution, deal with it as soon as the session is over • You will soon gain the trust of your associate when they know you can resolve issues quickly

  9. Have fun! Many team huddles are normally dull. Inject personality into them and make sure they have a lively agenda. Do not be too serious, find things for you and your associates to laugh about. You could decide to have a daily fun challenge.

  10. Have fun! Your Engage session is one of the most important daily investment for your team. It’s a time to motivate your team, help them to improve and help them focus on important targets. Make sure you run these sessions the right way lest you run the risk of wasting everyone’s time.
